Join us on Nov. 12th to hear from Connie Fortin, Low Salt Strategist at Bolton & Menk, where she will discuss "Designing a Lower Salt Future" over an in-person lunch meeting from 11:30am to 1pm! We will be meeting at Bolton & Menk's office in Eden Prairie. This event will provide you with 1.0 PDH and is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. An online option is available to those who aren't able to make it in person!
Abstract:
The heavy use of salt on winter roads, parking lots, bridges, and ramps has turned chloride into a major environmental concern. While winter maintenance has focused on reducing salt usage, it’s now time to rethink our infrastructure design. Join us to explore innovative strategies for keeping snow, ice, and meltwater off salted surfaces and redirecting them to less critical areas. Put on your Sorels and choppers and discover new approaches to winter infrastructure design!
Speaker Bio:
Connie has been working for decades with winter maintenance professionals trying to reduce salt by integrating science into winter operations. Now she finds herself in an engineering firm, working to integrate low salt concepts into infrastructure design. Improved winter design is the most cost-effective way to get on top of the chloride problem and she is energized to share this new strategy.
